Full Description

DEMONSTRATION FUMAROLE OPTION

Larderello, Piazza Leopolda
Geothermal Museum

Just a few kilometers from the Geothermal Museum, in a protected and safe area, lies one of Tuscany’s most striking scientific sites: the demonstration fumarole. Here, the force of nature is displayed directly, spectacularly, and authentically.

The fumarole is not just an attraction; it is a real, controlled geothermal valve through which underground steam escapes in a visible, roaring jet. The visit begins with a guided introduction that helps visitors understand the uniqueness of the phenomenon, explaining clearly what a geothermal well is, how underground steam forms, and how humans have harnessed it to produce energy.

The guide leads visitors to the safety perimeter and enriches the experience with scientific explanations and historical context. The functioning of geothermal wells, Larderello’s role as a global center for geothermal energy development, and the importance of this renewable resource for the future are all explained.

EDUCATIONAL FUMAROLE OPTION

Larderello, Piazza Leopolda
Geothermal Museum

The educational fumarole is designed for those who wish to understand the mechanisms of geothermal energy in depth. In addition to the demonstration, the guide explains in detail the properties of steam, the operating principles, and industrial and energy applications. This transforms the experience into a true outdoor laboratory, ideal for schools, study groups, and anyone wanting to combine excitement with learning.

How to Book?

For any questions about visit options, logistics, or payments, you can contact the Museum’s mobile/WhatsApp line at:
📞 +39 342 1422065

However, the quickest and most efficient way to organize your visit is by filling out our online booking form.
This allows us to receive all the necessary information in an organized and timely way, so we can offer you an experience perfectly tailored to your educational and logistical needs.

By completing the form, you can:

  • Receive fast and personalized assistance

  • Reserve a date as an option, with no initial commitment

  • Obtain a clear summary of your request with all details

Please fill in all sections carefully, selecting the options best suited to your group and providing complete billing information.

Submitting the form does not constitute a confirmed booking. It is an informational request that initiates direct contact with the organizers.
The booking becomes effective only upon receipt of confirmation by email from the organizers.

Until payment is made, the experience is not officially confirmed, and the selected date remains provisional.
The option will automatically expire if not reconfirmed within the agreed time frame.

What Is an Option?

During booking, you can select the “Provisional Option” box.
An option is a request for availability that lets you express interest in a specific experience without any obligation.
It is often used when the client still needs to finalize other aspects of the trip (e.g. accommodation, transportation) but wishes to secure a tentative date.

Each option has a set expiration date, which will be sent via email.
If the client does not confirm the booking by that deadline, the option automatically expires. The duration of the option depends on how far in advance the requested date is.

How to Pay?

The balance must be paid within a few days of receiving the electronic invoice. Only if a fiscal receipt is requested may payment be made on site.

If invoicing is required and the booking is made within the same month as the visit, payment must be made in a single transaction. For bookings totaling up to €200.00, payment is due immediately after the final agreement.

Accepted payment methods for invoiced bookings include:
Bank Transfer, Postal Order (pre-filled on request), or Credit Card in the name of the VAT holder indicated on the invoice.

Bank transfer details:

Via S. Stefano, 7 – 56045 Pomarance (PI)

Cancellations made up to 20 days before the visit date incur no penalty, and any deposit paid will be refunded.

For cancellations made between 20 and 2 days before the visit, 50% of the total cost will be charged.

Alternatively, we offer the option to reschedule the visit for another date, subject to availability.

In the event of a no-show (failure to appear or failure to cancel at least 48 hours before the visit), 100% of the service cost will be retained as a penalty.

How to Reach Us?

The geothermal area can be visited by car or coach.
A public bus service is available, though not all sites are reachable.
The area is not served by a railway network.

For coaches, the following routes are not recommended:

  • Castagneto Carducci / Monteverdi / Canneto / Serrazzano

  • Montecastelli Pisano / San Dalmazio

How Are Transfers Between Sites Managed?

For all activities, your own vehicle is required, especially when the itinerary includes multiple sites located some distance apart. Transfers are not included in our services, and no dedicated shuttle is provided.

Transportation must be arranged independently.

Distances between sites are manageable:

  • Geothermal Museum ↔ Soffione: approx. 2 km

  • Monterotondo ↔ Sasso Pisano: approx. 10 km

  • Monterotondo ↔ Larderello: approx. 20 km

Each stop must therefore be reached by your own means (car or coach) following the directions provided upon booking.

If you have difficulty arranging transport, contact us — we’ll help you find the best solution.

What Happens If the Group Is Late?

Punctuality is essential to ensure smooth service and avoid overlapping with other bookings.

Please do not arrive too early or too late. In case of delay, the duration of the service may be shortened. In the event of a major delay, the activity may be postponed or canceled according to our service conditions.

What Happens in Case of Bad Weather?

Guided tours of the Geothermal Museum take place regardless of weather conditions.

For outdoor activities (excursions, traverses, geosite visits), the management reserves the right to evaluate feasibility on the day, depending on weather conditions. In the event of heavy rain or adverse weather, the program may be modified, suspended, or canceled for safety reasons only.

Our staff will always do their best to ensure the scheduled activities can take place, even under less-than-ideal conditions.
Please wear appropriate clothing and bring rain protection.

In the event of cancellations or modifications due to force majeure, no refund will be issued, as these situations are beyond the organizer’s control.

What Happens If the Number of Participants Decreases?

Reductions in participant numbers communicated at least 10 days before the visit will be invoiced based on the actual number of participants.

After that deadline, refunds will be granted only up to a maximum of 10% of the total number of participants.

What Happens in Case of No-Show?

If the group fails to show up or does not cancel at least 48 hours in advance, 100% of the service cost will be retained as a penalty.

No refunds are issued for last-minute cancellations, as guides and staff are specifically scheduled and engaged for the reserved experience, dedicating time, resources, and organization to its successful execution.

The only exception applies to public force majeure events, duly documented, such as:

  • Official municipal or Civil Protection orders mandating school closures or travel bans, either from the point of origin or to the destination.

In these cases, official documentation (e.g. school notice, ordinance, public announcement) must be provided.

Personal circumstances such as illness, injury, or other impediments, even if certified, do not constitute grounds for refund, as they are not recognized among the conditions for cancellation.
