Full Description
Via dei Lagoni Boraciferi, 58025
Monterotondo Marittimo GR

The experience begins at 9:00 AM with a guided visit to Biancane Park, an iconic site where mineral deposits, vapors, and underground sounds create a nearly lunar landscape. Here you’ll explore the fundamentals of natural geothermal energy and the geological origins of the phenomenon, directly observing active formations in the field.
The group continues on foot toward Sasso Pisano, following a trail immersed in Mediterranean scrub and dotted with active vents, altered rocks, and traces of the old boric acid industry.
At the end of the hike, the fumaroles of Sasso Pisano offer a rare and powerful spectacle: steam rising forcefully from the ground, sulfur-scented air, and visibly altered soil.
Your guide will explain the natural processes behind these features and discuss the potential sustainable uses of geothermal energy.

Sasso Pisano Fabbriche, 56041
Lagoni del Sasso PI
After a lunch break, the group retraces the path back to the starting point, completing a coherent and immersive round-trip itinerary. The return route partly follows the same trail and partly a variant, offering new perspectives and landscapes along the way — a chance to experience the territory from multiple viewpoints without repeating the exact same path.

Plan B
In case of adverse weather conditions, since this is an outdoor activity, our standard service terms apply. However, for this specific experience, we offer a Plan B designed to minimize inconvenience: instead of the outdoor hike, participants may join a guided visit to the Geothermal Museum, discovering the history, curiosities, and modern applications of this extraordinary natural resource. This alternative ensures an engaging and thematically consistent experience, even in case of cancellation.

What Is an Option?
During booking, you can select the “Provisional Option” box.
An option is a request for availability that lets you express interest in a specific experience without any obligation.
It is often used when the client still needs to finalize other aspects of the trip (e.g. accommodation, transportation) but wishes to secure a tentative date.
Each option has a set expiration date, which will be sent via email.
If the client does not confirm the booking by that deadline, the option automatically expires. The duration of the option depends on how far in advance the requested date is.
How to Pay?
The balance must be paid within a few days of receiving the electronic invoice. Only if a fiscal receipt is requested may payment be made on site.
If invoicing is required and the booking is made within the same month as the visit, payment must be made in a single transaction. For bookings totaling up to €200.00, payment is due immediately after the final agreement.
Accepted payment methods for invoiced bookings include:
Bank Transfer, Postal Order (pre-filled on request), or Credit Card in the name of the VAT holder indicated on the invoice.

For cancellations made between 20 and 2 days before the visit, 50% of the total cost will be charged.
Alternatively, we offer the option to reschedule the visit for another date, subject to availability.
In the event of a no-show (failure to appear or failure to cancel at least 48 hours before the visit), 100% of the service cost will be retained as a penalty.

How Are Transfers Between Sites Managed?
For all activities, your own vehicle is required, especially when the itinerary includes multiple sites located some distance apart. Transfers are not included in our services, and no dedicated shuttle is provided.
Transportation must be arranged independently.
Distances between sites are manageable:
-
Geothermal Museum ↔ Soffione: approx. 2 km
-
Monterotondo ↔ Sasso Pisano: approx. 10 km
-
Monterotondo ↔ Larderello: approx. 20 km
Each stop must therefore be reached by your own means (car or coach) following the directions provided upon booking.
If you have difficulty arranging transport, contact us — we’ll help you find the best solution.
What Happens If the Group Is Late?
Punctuality is essential to ensure smooth service and avoid overlapping with other bookings.
Please do not arrive too early or too late. In case of delay, the duration of the service may be shortened. In the event of a major delay, the activity may be postponed or canceled according to our service conditions.
What Happens in Case of Bad Weather?
Guided tours of the Geothermal Museum take place regardless of weather conditions.
For outdoor activities (excursions, traverses, geosite visits), the management reserves the right to evaluate feasibility on the day, depending on weather conditions. In the event of heavy rain or adverse weather, the program may be modified, suspended, or canceled for safety reasons only.
Our staff will always do their best to ensure the scheduled activities can take place, even under less-than-ideal conditions.
Please wear appropriate clothing and bring rain protection.
In the event of cancellations or modifications due to force majeure, no refund will be issued, as these situations are beyond the organizer’s control.
What Happens If the Number of Participants Decreases?
Reductions in participant numbers communicated at least 10 days before the visit will be invoiced based on the actual number of participants.
After that deadline, refunds will be granted only up to a maximum of 10% of the total number of participants.
What Happens in Case of No-Show?
If the group fails to show up or does not cancel at least 48 hours in advance, 100% of the service cost will be retained as a penalty.
No refunds are issued for last-minute cancellations, as guides and staff are specifically scheduled and engaged for the reserved experience, dedicating time, resources, and organization to its successful execution.
The only exception applies to public force majeure events, duly documented, such as:
-
Official municipal or Civil Protection orders mandating school closures or travel bans, either from the point of origin or to the destination.
In these cases, official documentation (e.g. school notice, ordinance, public announcement) must be provided.
Personal circumstances such as illness, injury, or other impediments, even if certified, do not constitute grounds for refund, as they are not recognized among the conditions for cancellation.

DISCOVER THE BREWERY
Vapori di Birra
Geothermal Craft Brewery
While visiting the Fumarole Park of Sasso Pisano, you have the perfect opportunity to discover Vapori di Birra — the first brewery in Italy to use geothermal steam as its main source of energy. An innovative project that combines brewing tradition, environmental sustainability, and local production.
The brewery was founded with the idea of enhancing local resources by harnessing clean, renewable energy from the Earth to power the entire production process. Thanks to a specially adapted system, Vapori di Birra minimizes its environmental impact while ensuring maximum energy efficiency.
In an age of industrial and globalized production, Vapori di Birra embraces the path of craftsmanship: natural raw materials, a controlled supply chain, and a philosophy that places ecology at its core. A challenge that smells of malt — and speaks of the future, deeply rooted in the warm heart of Tuscany.
