Full Description
Larderello, Piazza Leopolda
Geothermal Museum
The visit begins inside the Larderello Geothermal Museum, one of the most iconic and evocative sites of industrial Tuscany. Here, the story unfolds across history, science, and innovation, showing how humans have learned to harness the Earth’s deep heat to produce clean energy. The museum experience is rich and engaging: scale models, original documents, historic photographs, and multimedia installations illustrate the evolution of geothermal energy and the global importance of this territory.
Accompanied by an expert guide, visitors follow a path combining scientific explanation with landscape appreciation. The museum rooms reveal not only the power of nature but also the complexity of drilling networks, 20th-century technological discoveries, and Larderello’s contribution to the energy transition, making it an international model of sustainability.

Enel Area
After the museum visit, participants travel independently by their own means to the high-pressure demonstration steam vent, located about two kilometers away. Here, the experience becomes more physical, almost theatrical: steam bursts from the underground in a controlled explosion of energy and noise. The opening of the geothermal valve produces a dense, continuous jet, visible from a distance, leaving first-time observers awestruck. The sound is deep and enveloping, conveying the invisible power the Earth holds beneath its surface.
The guide accompanies the group to the edge of the safety area and explains, in an accessible and engaging way, what is happening below: how the steam forms, how it is channeled and used, and why this type of energy is one of the cleanest, safest, and most reliable resources available today.

What Happens If the Group Is Late?
Punctuality is essential to ensure smooth service and avoid overlapping with other bookings.
Please do not arrive too early or too late. In case of delay, the duration of the service may be shortened. In the event of a major delay, the activity may be postponed or canceled according to our service conditions.
What Happens in Case of Bad Weather?
Guided tours of the Geothermal Museum take place regardless of weather conditions.
For outdoor activities (excursions, traverses, geosite visits), the management reserves the right to evaluate feasibility on the day, depending on weather conditions. In the event of heavy rain or adverse weather, the program may be modified, suspended, or canceled for safety reasons only.
Our staff will always do their best to ensure the scheduled activities can take place, even under less-than-ideal conditions.
Please wear appropriate clothing and bring rain protection.
In the event of cancellations or modifications due to force majeure, no refund will be issued, as these situations are beyond the organizer’s control.
What Happens If the Number of Participants Decreases?
Reductions in participant numbers communicated at least 10 days before the visit will be invoiced based on the actual number of participants.
After that deadline, refunds will be granted only up to a maximum of 10% of the total number of participants.
What Happens in Case of No-Show?
If the group fails to show up or does not cancel at least 48 hours in advance, 100% of the service cost will be retained as a penalty.
No refunds are issued for last-minute cancellations, as guides and staff are specifically scheduled and engaged for the reserved experience, dedicating time, resources, and organization to its successful execution.
The only exception applies to public force majeure events, duly documented, such as:
-
Official municipal or Civil Protection orders mandating school closures or travel bans, either from the point of origin or to the destination.
In these cases, official documentation (e.g. school notice, ordinance, public announcement) must be provided.
Personal circumstances such as illness, injury, or other impediments, even if certified, do not constitute grounds for refund, as they are not recognized among the conditions for cancellation.
